The Bracelet

I found this beauty at a consignment shop for $3.
Turns out the pearls are real.
It means more to me than it should.
Someone really loved the girl this bracelet once belonged to. I assume it was a graduation gift and whoever gave it to her went as far as to get the girls monogram etched into the other side of the heart. It really touched me how much thought was put into this bracelet and slightly angered me  that the girl who once owned it would just sell it to a consignment shop, probably for about a dollar, as if it was trash.
The year happens to be that same year I graduated. I wish someone loved me enough to do something this special for it. My own parents couldn't even be bothered to show up even after everything I had to go through just to graduate.
I finally get to start college this coming April. Hopefully this time around school and even the day I graduate will go better than it did last time.

Thanks for reading my ramblings.

No Stilettos Allowed, Fashionista!

I can't wear heels.

It's a sad sad truth but I just can't.

I've tried padding (even doubling the padding!), thicker heels, platform heels and 4 inch heels but I just cannot do it. It doesn't just hurt a part of my foot, it hurts the whole foot plus my ankle.
I just can't do it.

Luckily, if you're like me, we don't get totally screwed out of having fabulous shoes to pull together any outfit.

There are so many choices out there now for flats and, thank you fashion gods, the kitten heel is becoming trendy for the fall.

Here are some options I found online for the No Stilettos Allowed, Fashionista

FLATS

A funky pair by Bakers
Glam it up with another Bakers pair

Classy with Aldo

Chic Aldo pair

KITTEN HEELS

Funky fashion Bakers

Glam chic Bakers

And you don't even have to give up on the Louboutin dream!!

So don't lose hope my No Stilettos Allowed, Fashionistas! There are plenty of shoes out there for us that'll even make the Stilettos girls stare in envy.

P.S. Yes! I realize the irony of this post next to my little stiletto cartoon shoes on the left side. Just because I don't wear them doesn't mean I can't admire! ;)

I haven't left the house in five days

Yep. You read correctly. FIVE days.
I have been in pajamas, on the computer and avoiding the world for five days.

Why?

I've always struggled with depression and anxiety but I have to admit that this is the first time it has really hit me this hard.
I lost my job.
My bills are piling up.
It's hard to put food in the house.
I don't have any real friends where I live.
I live in a place I hate.
and then... there's every other personal thing I have going on.

Yeah, I know that I'm not the only going through this but it sure feels like I am.

I spend all day filling out job applications and dreaming of a better me.

Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better. Be better.

Ugh.  I don't know how.

I can't even force myself out of the house to go to Starbucks.
Before, I loved getting dressed up and going somewhere. Taking my Coco for a walk or strolling down to Starbucks to grab a coffee and window shop.

Then again, there was a time, years ago, when I loved to wake up and go for a run.
I haven't been able to run for years.
It's this ridiculous anxiety that people are watching me and laughing. I can't seem to snap out of it.

Are things getting worse for me? Will I become one of those people too afraid to leave their own home?

I hope not.

I need to be fearless and confident... but that's easier said then done. Sometimes all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep for the rest of my life.

My first project

I have this beautiful dress that I bought about a year ago. Unfortunately, being 5'10" with a well endowed behind, Its too short to wear out and I truly hate wearing leggings with dresses.

So I decided to finally take the plunge and turn it into a skirt.

BEFORE

AFTER

I am DEFINITELY an amateur! I love it though :)

My next attempt will be using a vintage pattern to make a simple shirt.

RELAX!

Yes. Not working drives me crazy.
I hate not having something to do or a challenge to conquer however, with the knowledge that eventually I will get a job and eventually I will be going back to school as well as volunteering and/or interning I should probably take advantage of this total down time.
When else will I have time to do whatever I want?
When else am I not going to have to worry about what time it is and have I studied enough and did I finish that work project?
Yeah I'm worried about my bills but instead of worrying myself into a panic attack (Which I do) I should really just relax!

Relax?
What the heck is that?

Yeah I'm not that type to relax.
I'm the same girl that the masseuse, the manicurist, the hair stylist even the facialist  yells at to relax.
I've been that way since I was a kid, stressing about things kids shouldn't have to stress about. This is probably why my shoulders are always killing me.

Well, I vow to myself.... No... I owe it to myself to chill the heck out and just RELAX!

So I'm going to start with an old movie (Funny face, I love me some Audrey Hepburn) that will sweep me away to a different world and then continue with reading, creating, cooking, coffee and puppy play until the day I get a call that I got a job!

Maybe I should think about starting meditation? hmmm....

Weekend plans

Currently I am without job.  :(

So to keep myself from going totally insane I decided it's time to create!
My Nana sent me some cute fabric and pretty little lace and now I need to figure out what I want to do with it. I also really need to teach myself how to use a pattern to make clothes.

I think I definitely want to make a cute apron out of one of these but I'll have to look around the Internet for some more ideas.

I also picked up some books on Alexander McQueen.
That Savage Beauty one. It's so cool!

I also had to grab and SAT study guide. ugh.

Here's a tip for all you teeny boppers out there:
Take the stupid SATs in High School!!! Even if you're not sure about college take them anyway because taking them as an adult sucks!

Hopefully I get a job soon so I can afford the fee to take them.
